About

My crafting dreams started the day I got engaged in 2013. I fell into the black hole of centerpieces, seating designs, and place cards. Eventually, that led me to create just about anything my adhd brain wanted to hyperfixate on; I always hoped that one day I could sell everything I love making, so I seized the opportunity when the pandemic shut down the world. Like many laid off due to the pandemic, I had much time on my hands, so Blackwater Designs was born! Blackwater Designs' name comes from the town where I started my business and the gorgeous river and forest surrounding it. My hope is that whatever it is that I continue to make brings you as much joy as it does me.

The two best assistants anyone could ever want. They keep me encouraged with pep-“barks” and remind me to take breaks for belly rubs. (Please note all products are made in a dog friendly home, however, all dogs are kept away from business products)

My Swiftie Story

I started listening to Taylor in 2020 after Miss Americana came out. I remember gaining a whole new perspective on this "Pop Star." I suddenly had so much respect for this woman who stood up for herself and others. I listened to Reputation and Lover over and over again. Later in the year came Folklore and then Evermore, and I was OBSESSED. Taylor Swift had, without a doubt, won me over. I couldn't stop listening. I ate, slept, and worked with her songs on a loop. Even still, I wouldn't have called myself a Swiftie at the end of the day.
Becoming a Swiftie came in 2022. I received a late-night phone call from my sister, whose whole life was about to change dramatically. In the end, for the absolute better, but at the time, everything in her life was crashing and falling apart. I knew she loved Taylor Swift, so I started listening to everything I could to help her heal. We'd swap songs about how we were feeling, and I even learned how to clown and dive into theories to give her anything else to keep her mind on something fun and exciting. Then came the Great ticketmaster War... By sheer luck, I was able to get in and buy the first tickets I could click on. We were going to THE ERAS TOUR! I will always remember having the time of my life at Era-Zona night 2. The first night, the crowd went feral after Champagne Problems. She healed us that night, and I'll never forget the look on her face when she realized we weren't stopping. After coming home from that show, I realized that Taylor had become my muse. When I tried to create or craft something, every idea I had revolved around her. So, my small business quickly turned into a small Swiftie business.
I will be forever grateful to Taylor Swift for bringing my sister and me closer than I ever thought possible. I'm also so incredibly thankful for the community I have become a part of. Every Swiftie I've met has been so genuine and kindhearted.
